The pang of suffering from Boko Haram insurgency in the North East of the country is really calling for concern.

The sect appears to have taken full control of the region with hundreds of soldiers been killed on regular basis. Few days ago, report had it that close to 100 rice farmers were beheaded by the terrorists while harvesting on their farmlands..

The sect from all indications seems to have rendered our military and government incapacitated when it comes to providing security for the people which is the primary responsibility of any responsible leader.


The people of Borno state are currently in disarray and constantly under attack from the deadly group. A recent release from the Amnesty International about their recent strike in the area is really a touching situation capable of triggering goose pimples from anyone who is strong enough to read it.


According to the report, whenever the group comes to strike in any of the villages, people always run for their lives. But the older ones are always falling victims of attack because of their frail nature arising form old age.


Once they are caught, they will be made to suffer untold hardship or even made to witness the slaughtering of their children in their presence.

On this particular day, the sect came to the village and people ran for safety. While looting the houses, they met the 80 years old woman in own house. They asked her while she didn’t run when she heard they were around. Her response was shocking.

She said: “this is my house and I am not scared of dying. Some of them said instead of killing me, they would put me in permanent pain”.

According to her, they later brought out their knife and stabbed her in the foot. This was meant to put her in excruciating pain and prevent her from running even when confronted with more deadly occurence.

Although, the woman has demonstrated an incredible capacity to confront their terror and uncommon courage to stamp her feet and told them her mind but the situation has further subjected her to a more agonizing condition.

She would not die but may likely live the rest of her life in pain except help surfaces on time.

That is the tragedy of horror the people of Borno state are going through in that region.
