Nigerian youths capable of doing well —Aisha Buhari
Wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari, has commended the passion and outstanding display of members of the National Youth Service Corps during Nigeria’s 60th Independence Anniversary Parade in Abuja.
Mrs Buhari spoke when she hosted corps members who participated in the 60th Independence Parade to a dinner at the Presidential Villa, Abuja..
She charged the youths to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the creative industry in Nigeria, adding that they have the ability to excel in their chosen fields.
She said, “The creativity of NYSC alongside the military has shown that Nigerian youths are capable of doing well at any given opportunity.
“Nigeria has an economy driven by the creative industry such as music, movies, arts, information, communication, technology and other branches offer great and lucrative opportunities for all to explore.”
On her part, the Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen, tasked the corps members to do their best towards promoting peace and harmony in the country.
Tallen said the Federal Government would continue to initiate policies aimed at supporting sustainable youths development programmes in the country.
Also speaking, the Director-General of the scheme, Brig.-Gen. Ibrahim Shuaibu, commended the President’s wife for hosting the dinner, adding that the gesture was a morale-booster for the corps members.
He reiterated the commitment of the scheme to support viable projects initiated by Mrs Buhari designed to improve the lives of women, children and the vulnerable people in the society.
