FINALLY!! See The Difference Between SARS And SWAT – You Will No Longer Be Afraid Of Police Brutality
Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police announced some weeks back the disbandment of the deadly Special Anti-Robbery Squad, popularly known as SARS following massive protests by Nigerian youths against the brutality and killings carried out by the unit.
Following the Inspector General of Police, Adamu scrapping of SARS, he announced the information of another unit named SWAT to replace the now infamous SARS unit. To clear your doubts, Scooper News has decided to show you the difference between SAARS and SWAT.
SWAT
The purpose of the SWAT team is, “to provide protection, support, security, firepower, and rescue to police operations in high-risk situations, where specialized tactics are necessary to minimize casualties.”
SWAT units are often equipped with automatic and specialized firearms, including submachine guns, assault rifles, riot shotguns, sniper rifles, riot guns, riot control agents, tear gas, smoke, and stun grenades.
In addition, they may use specialized equipment including heavy body armor, ballistic shields, entry tools, armored vehicles, thermal and night vision devices, and motion detectors for covertly determining the positions of hostages or hostage takers, inside enclosed structures.
SARS
SARS is one of the 14 units in the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department which was established to detain, investigate and prosecute people involved in crimes like armed robbery, kidnapping and other forms of crimes.
