The Defence Headquarters has said scores of Boko Haram insurgents have been eliminated at their hideouts at Maima and Tusuye settlements near Warshale and Tongule along the Dikwa-Rann axis of Borno State.

It stated that the hoodlums died after Nigerian Air Force jets bombed their locations following credible human intelligence reports as well as series of aerial surveillance missions, which indicated that the areas were being used as rendezvous points by the outlaws..

A statement on Saturday by the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. John Enenche, said the operation was carried out by the air task force team of Operation Hail Storm 2.

The statement was titled, ‘Operation Hail Storm 2: Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole takes out more terrorists, destroys their hideouts at Maima, Tusuye in Borno State.’

It read, “Crews of Operation Hail Storm 2 neutralized several Boko Haram Terrorists’ and destroyed their hideouts at Maima and Tusuye settlements near Warshale and Tongule along the Dikwa-Rann axis of Borno State during airstrikes executed on 1 October 2020.

“The ATF dispatched an appropriate force package of Nigerian Air Force fighter jets and helicopter gunships to engage the two locations. The attack aircraft scored devastating hits in the target areas, destroying some structures and neutralizing several of the terrorists.”
