Police recruitment: 15,000 apply for 140 slots in Gombe
No fewer than 15,000 applicants are to be screened for the ongoing 140 police recruitment slots in Gombe State.
The recruitment exercise started on Monday with Akko Local Government Area at the police officer’s mess, Gombe, and would end on September 6, 2020..
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Adamu, said only applicants with basic five credit in Ordinary level subjects, including English and Mathematics among other conditions were considered for screening.
He said, “Over 15,000 applicants were shortlisted for capturing here (Gombe). You should not forget that 10,000 are meant to be recruited across the 774 local governments in the country.”
He, however, lamented poor internet network, noting that he and his men were overwhelmed by the large turnout for the exercise.
He adding that “the challenge we initially faced was the issue of internet network but we refused to be frustrated.
“Initially, we were using just one computer for the capturing but when we saw the turnout, I had no option but to order for two more.”
