Record Breaking Romelu Lukaku fire Inter back to second

Two goals from Romelu Lukaku and one from Alexis Sanchez were enough for Inter Milan to win three-nill and climb back to second on Serie A.
Inter Milan made easy work of relegation threatened Genoa. Antonio Conte’s side ran out three-nil winners away to the 17th placed side in the league.

At the other end, the victory meant that the Nerazzurri climbed back above Atalanta and Lazio to regain second place. The win also means that the gap on Juventus is now down to four points..

Juventus are likely to seal their ninth title in a row with a result at home to Sampdoria. However, there is still the faintest dream of a miraculous collapse for Conte and his side to hang on to.

Statistically the game was not as cut and dry as the score makes out.

But when Romelu Lukaku opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a powerful header there was only ever going to be one winner.

The visitors were not their usual ruthless selves in front of the goal, they created plenty but were far from accurate in finding the target.

The points were not secured until Alexis Sanchez doubled the lead late in the game with the second in the 83rd minute.

Lukaku got his brace and Inter’s third in the third minute of injury time. A great solo effort to help bolster the goal difference should it come down to it.

The Belgian international’s 23rd Serie A strike of the season puts him on a par with Ronaldo Nazario

Romelu Lukaku is the first player to score 23 Serie A goals in their first Inter season since Ronaldo 😤 https://t.co/3rXegHKoHs
