COVID-19: WHO releases list of African countries with highest cases, deaths
The World Health Organization, WHO, regional office for Africa in Brazzaville, Congo, has said that the number of COVID-19 cases in Africa has risen to over 128,500 in the past 24 hours.
The UN health agency also disclosed that COVID-19 had killed 3,700 people in the continent, while 53,000 people have recovered from the deadly disease.
WHO gave the update on its official Twitter page on Friday.
“Over 128,500 confirmed #COVID19 cases on the African continent – with more than 53,000 recoveries & 3,700 deaths,” WHO tweeted.
The WHO African Region COVID-19 dashboard showed that South Africa has the highest reported cases of 27,403 and 577 deaths, followed by Egypt with 19, 666 cases, and 816 deaths.
Others are Algeria (8,997 cases and 630 deaths), Nigeria (8,915 cases and 259 deaths), Morocco (7,636 cases and 202 deaths), and Ghana (7,303 cases and 34 deaths).
