I left Tottenham Hotspur because of Mourinho – Danny Rose

Tottenham Hotspur defender, Danny Rose, has disclosed that he left the club on loan to join Newcastle United last month because of manager Jose Mourinho.

According to Rose, Mourinho did not give him the same opportunity to impress as Spurs’ other defenders. The 29-year-old, who made just five appearances since Mourinho took over from Mauricio Pochettino last November, told BBC Radio 5 Live: “The manager [Mourinho] did not give me a lot of opportunities just like the rest of the players in the defense line.

“When Mourinho took charge after one month, I knew that was the end of me playing at Tottenham.

“It was hard for me to even train with the rest of the squad because I knew I would not feature in games.

“Well, I must give full respect to Mourinho because when he took charge, we were 12 points behind Chelsea, and now we are just four points adrift fourth-place Chelsea on the Premier League table.”

“I thought I would continue playing just like the player I was three years ago when I returned from injury, but it did not work out.”
