Wolves vs City: 10-man City haunted by Traore & co again despite Sterling brace

Doherty completes stunning comeback for hosts to deny Pep Guardiola’s side the chance to move second as VAR chaos descends on Molineux with Raheem Sterling scoring retaken spot-kick and Ederson shown red card

That win for Wolves means they move up into fifth place in the table, just two points off the top four. It’s another tough game for them on Sunday as they travel to league leaders Liverpool. City miss the chance to leapfrog Leicester into second and close the gap to Liverpool at the top.

Their four-game winning run is also over and Guardiola will want to bounce back against Sheffield United next time out.

Wolves come from behind to beat 10-man City 3-2. Ederson was sent off just 12 minutes in for a late challenge on Jota but City still took the lead. VAR awarded them a penalty which Sterling had two attempts at but was denied by Patricio, but he eventually turned in the rebound of the second. Just after the break, Sterling doubled their lead, but City couldn’t hold on. Traore scored Wolves’ first before setting up Jimenez. Doherty then scored in the 89th minute to secure the three points for Wolves.
