Gunmen assassinate Majority Leader in Delta

Gunmen on Tuesday night shot dead the majority leader of the Sapele Local Government Government Council, Chief Venture Kagbude along the popular Effurun-Warri/Sapele road in Delta State.

Edujandon.com gathered that the gunmen waylaid the deceased who was in his car going back to Sapele and opened fire on him and ensured he died before they left the scene before Police arrived.

The incident caused serious tension in the area as residents scampered for safety, Edujandon.com can report.


The remains of the deceased who is also the Chairman of Okirigwe Community in Sapele have been deposited in the morgue.

The Sapele Council Chairman, Hon. Eugene Inoaghan, could not be reached for comments on the matter at the time of filing this report.

However, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Adeyinka Adeleke in a telephone chat with Our Correspondent in Warri, confirmed the report.

CP Adeleke said, “the incident happened last night.”
