Barca close in on Griezmann £107m deal

Barcelona could complete the £ 107million signing of Antoine Griezmann as early as next week , when his release clause at Atletico Madrid decreases .

The French World Cup winner has already announced his intention to leave Atletico Madrid this summer and Barcelona have been leading the race to secure his services .
Paris Saint – Germain have also been keeping tabs on his situation while Manchester United are known to be admirers of the forward .

But The Telegraph has claimed that Barca have won the race to sign Griezmann , who will see his release clause drop to € 120 m ( £ 107m ) from € 200m ( £ 178m ) on July 1 .
It is claimed the Spanish giants had agreed personal terms with the Frenchman two months ago, but the release clause was delaying the move going through .
Griezmann was initially linked with a move to Barca last summer , but decided to stay at Atletico and released an expensively – produced video confirming his choice.
But that changed in this transfer window, when he announced that he would be leaving the club he joined from Real Sociedad in 2014 .

“ It ’ s been an incredible five years ; Thank you very much for everything , I take you in the heart , ” Griezmann said .
The Frenchman scored 133 goals in 257 games for the club , but is now set to form a formidable strike trio with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at the Nou Camp .
Griezmann’ s arrival at the Nou Camp could ruin Neymar ’ s hopes of a dream return to Barca , after the Brazilian himself made clear his desire to quit Paris Saint – Germain this summer.

Neymar has been strongly linked with a return to Barca but whether the Spanish giants can justify signing him as well as Griezmann remains to be seen .
And Barca may have to move several players out to make way for any further incomings , with Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele among those linked with pastures new.
