Super Eagles’ striker, Paul Onuachu, on Tuesday, entered African football history record in Nigeria’s 1-0 win over Egypt in an international friendly game.

Onuachu, who was making his first start for the Super Eagles, netted the only goal of the match in the opening minute.

Allnigeriasoccer reports that the goal, scored by the FC Midtjylland star in the eight seconds of the match, means the 24-year-old became the second player to have scored the fastest goal in an international match involving two African countries.

Onuachu’s goal is two seconds shy of the absolute record held by Club Africain’s Ghazi Ayadi, who netted after six seconds in a 2-1 win against CS Sfaxien at Stade Olympique de Radès on December 6, 2017.

Speaking on Onuachu’s performance against Egypt, Nigeria head coach, Gernot Rohr heaped praises on the striker.

Rohr said: ”We scored a goal very early. I think this is the earliest goal I have seen as a coach and it’s coming from the kickoff. It was very nice from Paul Onuachu.

”We have other profiles for the striker position, we now have this tall guy [Paul Onuachu] from Denmark. He did very well but he has to improve still.”
