Unai Emery singles out two Arsenal players after 3-1 defeat to Man City
Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, has said he is “very happy” with the progress of midfielders, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi, following their 3-1 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.
Sergio Aguero’s 14th hat-trick for City, saw the champions move within two points of leaders Liverpool.
Emery praised Torreira and Guendouzi in his post-match press conference and said the duo’s progress was a source of positivity.
Asked whether Arsenal are closing the gap on Manchester City, Emery said: “I cannot say a lot about that. They showed their superiority at the end of the match.
“We lost some duels. We have some young players who are playing their first year in the Premier League and they can improve a lot.
“I’m very happy with Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira’s performances today, but they also need time to improve and to take confidence, to take experience for their future here.
“With the result, it’s not easy to say that, but there are some positives that we can look at from our players today.”
The defeat sees Arsenal remain sixth in the Premier League, one point behind Manchester United and three behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
