Jussie Smollett released from prison

Empire star, Jussie Smollett has been released from jail.

Recall that Smollett was arrested on Thursday for allegedly filing a false police report where he claimed he was attacked and beaten by two Nigerian men shouting racist and homophobic slurs.

According to the Voice of America,VOA, Smollett was granted bail at $100,000 after he appeared in court in Chicago, Illinois on Thursday

The actor was also asked to surrender his passport as part of his bail conditions and pay 10% of his total bail in order to be released from custody
Smollet is facing a felony charge for falsely filing a police report where he claimed two Nigerian men attacked and hurled homophobic words at him in Chicago.
However, his attorneys, Todd Pugh and Victor Henderson, in a statement, said the actor remains innocent until proven guilty.

The statement read: “Like any other citizen, Mr. Smollett enjoys the presumption of innocence, particularly when there has been an investigation like this one where information, both true and false, has been repeatedly leaked.
“Given these circumstances, we intend to conduct a thorough investigation and to mount an aggressive defence.”
