Paul Scholes Sacked As Oldham Boss After 45 Minutes

Paul Scholes has been sacked as manager of League Two side Oldham Athletic less than an hour after being appointed. Scholes is believed to have referred to staff as ‘clowns’ and facilities as ‘shite’ during a tour of the club’s training ground on Chapel Road.

“We wish him well,” Oldham chairman Abdallah Lemsagam told Soccer on Sunday. “For the 45 minutes he was here, Paul was different class. On behalf of everybody at Oldham, I’d like to thank Paul and his staff — who are also sacked by the way, in case that wasn’t clear to them — for their tireless efforts and professionalism.”

“The last 15 minutes obviously didn’t go as anybody would have liked,” said the Moroccan. “But Paul raised the bar during that first half hour. There’s big boots to fill now, and it’s my job to find someone with Scholes-sized and shaped feet.”
“Does anybody have Nicky Butt’s phone number?” added Lemsagam.
Scholes is disappointed not to have had more time to make his mark.
“It’s a shame,” the former Manchester UTD midfielder told Soccer on Sunday. “I told the chairman that he and his staff are clowns, and that the setup is shite. I was looking for a strong reaction, but he sacked me on the spot.”
”Football’s dead now, as far as I’m concerned,” added Scholes. “It died in 2012 when I retired and the interweb started.”
