The people of Kogi State were filled with joy as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Peter Obi stormed Kogi State for a presidential mega rally.

The candidate who is riding on the wings of job creation and security, has since stated that in order to get Nigeria working again, there is need to stop the job losses. This will be achieved by partnering effectively with private sectors and civil societies to move Nigeria forward.

In attendance, were three former governors of Kogi state; Idris Wada, Ibrahim Idris and Clarence Olafemi. Also sited were PDP national chairman, Uche Secondus, the Campaign DG of the PDP, Dr Bukola Saraki and many other party stakeholders.

While speaking, Idris Ibrahim, a former governor of Kogi State, stated that “Atiku is here to end the suffering. Nigerians have suffered enough,” he said. Dr. Bukola Saraki in his speech, stated that the only hope of Nigerians for job creation is through voting Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as President of Nigeria, who is a seasoned job creator and a good manager. Atiku took the podium and reminded the people of Kogi State that most of the major infrastructures in the state, are PDP legacy projects.

He went on to name examples, ranging from the Stadium used for the rally, to the Ajaokuta Steel complex, to the two power plants in the state. Atiku promised to complete the abandoned Kogi Inland port, which was started by the PDP, but abandoned by the APC. In addition, he called for the freedom of Senator Dino Melaye who has been incarcerated wrongly by the police.

This rally comes at a time the state is hit with recent loss of jobs in the economy, including the moribund Ajaokuta Steel Industry. Also, the state is part of the North central which has seen a rise in the death by killer herdsmen, up to 4000 in 2018.
