De Gea’s six words after victory over Tottenham send Man United fans into meltdown
David De Gea says the real Manchester Untied are back following his side’s 1-0 win over Spurs on Sunday.Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men produced a superb first half performance and took the lead through Marcus Rashford.
Paul Pogba fed his team-mate through on goal with a tantalising ball before the 21-year-old dispatched with aplomb.
Spurs dominated the second half but United held on – and they have De Gea to thank.
The Spaniard produced one of the best Premier League goalkeeping displays of all time to deny the likes of Harry Kane, Toby Alderweireld and Dele Alli.
But rather than speak about himself at full-time, De Gea chose to praise the team.
“We won the game against a top team, we controlled the first half but in the second half they had chances,” he told Sky Sports.
“I was feeling very well with the first two saves, it was a great game.
“I don’t even remember some of the saves so I can’t pick a best. The manager brought some happiness, the players are playing well and the team is very strong now
“This is the real Manchester United .”
His last six words sent fans into meltdown.
One tweeted: “De Gea: ‘This is the real Man Utd’ Love that. Very fortunate second half but I would anticipate the over excitement from MUFC fans will be because they have their team back.”
Another supporter posted: “‘This is the real Manchester United’. I LOVE YOU DE GEA.”
A separate fan said: “De Gea just said this is the REAL Manchester United. Couldn’t have said it any better.”
