Atiku Reacts as Oby Ezekwesili quits Presidential race, Says Decision Smacks of Corruption
Following the withdrawal of Oby Ezekwesili, presidential candidate of the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN) from the presidential race, Nigerians have taken to social media in reaction to her decision barely two weeks to the poll. While some are commending her decision, others mocked her decision, saying she had been working for the ruling party to distract the candidacy of the main opposition party.
Reacting to the decision, the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, who expressed shock over the development noted wondered what will happen to all the donations the former education minister had received from Nigerians.
According to him, Ezekwesili decision smacks off corruption, saying corruption begins from being unaccountable.
Atiku on his verified Twitter handle wrote, “Atiku is corrupt. Atiku is corrupt. Atiku is a thief. OKAY. But what will happen to all the dollars, cars and others donations Oby Ezekwesili got…: Na so corruption Dey start. *smiles*”
Also commenting on, President Muhammadu Buhari’s social media aide, Lauretta Onochie in a post on her Twitter page said integrity and massive support for President Buhari led to Ezekwesili decision.
She wrote, “Oby Ezekwesili, the Presidential Candidate of ACPN, has chickened out after watching the mammoth crowd that continues to receive Mr. Integrity across the nation, she has pulled out of the Presidential Race, letting her followers down. Buhari will never let us down.”

@KayodeOgundamisi, “.@obyezeks started with @BBOG_Nigeria then sidestep into @RedCardMng then moved into CUPP abi na CUP, Then became inspirator in chief and umpire for new generation Presidential candidates, after supervising internal elections, she herself emerged as a candidate and now MELTED.”
@Oddy4real, “The plan was for Buhari to miss the debate, so Oby Ezekwesili and co can make the debate about Atiku, do him dirty, discredit him, thus creating content for days for those BMC idiots. Again, Atiku did well by missing that debate.”
@I_Am_Ilemona, “First Oby Ezekwesili drops out. Then Fela Durotoye is about to drop out. The choice not to debate these ones was a sound choice. I hope people can see the sense in @atiku not doing #2019Debate with them.”
@BrianJDennis, “Declare for President. Collect donations into millions. Refuse to campaign. Quit race. Become richer. Madam Oby Ezekwesili is a yahoo boy.”
@TheLifeOutreach, “Madam Oby thank you for making me lose 250k from @Stalyf and another 50k from @YemieFASH
But on the other hand, I have a newfound respect for both men. They warned me and predicted Oby Ezekwesili stepping down. They saw this coming.”
@TosinOlugbenga, “Both Fela Durotoye and Oby Ezekwesili jettisoned their Presidential ambitions to form a coalition. That’s what you should expect when social media politicians wake up at the eve of a new election year to contest from Presidency.”
@cchukudebelu, “Atiku was supposed to debate Fela Durotoye, Oby Ezekwesili and Kingsley Moghalu. The first two are already out of the race; so he didn’t miss out much by not participating. On a serious note – winning elections requires some planning, its not enough to be passionate & sincere.”
@YemiFash, “Did I not tell you aunty Oby Ezekwesili and all these 3rd force people were scamming you ?
@BenUgbanna, “Someone even call Madam Oby a yahoo boy. It’s not fair. Dr. Oby Ezekwesili is a lover of Nigeria. She would do anything to oust the APC and PDP from the leadership of this country. If you donated for her campaign and her decision is hurting you, coman take your money.”
