One die, four vehicles burnt as students protest in Oyo

The Oyo State Government on Monday ordered the closure of Community Grammar School, Olodo , over arson .A statement issued on Monday in Ibadan by Mrs Ibironke Fatoki , the Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education , Science and Technology , said the school was shut following an incident of arson in the school on Friday.

It said the act was carried out by some miscreants after a violent protest by junior secondary school students on Thursday .

“ A block of three classrooms and four cars were burnt during the protest. One life was also lost during the two – day mayhem, ” it said .

The statement said that the state government had set up a six – man administrative panel to examine the immediate and remote causes of the incident .

It said that the panel was expected to submit its report within seven working days .
