NYSC gets Major General as DG in 45 years
The National Youth Service Corps said on Friday that it is now headed by a Major General , Suleiman Kazaure , after its 45 years of establishment .The NYSC said on Friday that Kazaure was among the 29 Brigadier Generals elevated by the Nigerian Army to the rank of a Major General in its promotion exercise on Monday .
Our correspondent learnt that Kazaure , who hails from Jigawa State, was back to the office on Friday as a Major General , after inspecting a guard of honour mounted by corps members at the NYSC Headquarters , Abuja.
The NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations , Mrs Adenike Adeyemi , said in a release that the DG ’ s administration , which began in April 2016 , had improved on staff welfare and the security of corps members nationwide .
She said , “ He is the first sitting Brigadier General to be promoted to the rank of a Major General in the history of the 45 -year – old the scheme. The Director – General attributed his success at the military examination to the collective support of the entire workers of the NYSC scheme nationwide .
“ The NYSC boss has been in various capacities in the Nigerian Army and distinguished himself as an excellent officer and a goal- getter . He assumed duty in April 2016 as the 17 th Chief Executive Officer of the NYSC and has since improved staff welfare and security of corps members across the country .
“ His administration also expanded the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme through the establishment of more skill centres including the recently donated SAED Centre in Gombe State. ”
