The Public Complaints Rapid Response Unit of the Nigeria Police Force has reunited a woman with her four -year – old daughter , who was forcefully taken to Kaduna by the mother ’ s estranged boyfriend. The complainant , simply identified as Ms B , had reported to the PCRRU on December 5 , 2018 , that her erstwhile boyfriend and father of her daughter had taken her away to his grandmother in Kaduna .
He , thereafter , relocated to South Africa , cutting off communications with her since 2016 .

She further narrated that the boyfriend’ s family boasted that she would not be given access to her daughter , adding that she was threatened with violence .

Ms B explained that she reported the matter to various authorities but all efforts to resolve the case failed .

The Head , PCRRU , ASP Abayomi Shogunle , explained in a statement in Abuja on Thursday , that the Juvenile and Women Centre of the Kaduna Police Command , which investigated the case , found out that the girl in question was interested in living with her biological mother and not her grandmother .

He said , “ Within five days , the JWC was able to bring all the parties together during which it was discovered that the little girl was more interested in being with her biological mother and not her grandmother .

“ Advice was also sought from relevant experts and it was decided that the four -year – old girl should be released to her biological mother, considering the fact that her father had relocated from Nigeria , as Ms B was also discovered to be a responsible and working class woman. ”

One week after , the ACP stated that an elated Ms B visited the PCRRU , Force Headquarters , Abuja, in company with her daughter , to express her joy at the swift response of the unit in “ helping her to get justice and helping the helpless in the society . ”
