Iker Casillas sends tweet about Jose Mourinho after Liverpool 3-1 Manchester United
How do you fix this?”
That was a question Geoff Shreeves asked Jose Mourinho in his post-match interview on Sky Sports after Manchester United were beaten 3-1 by Liverpool at Anfield.
“What do you mean by fix? You mean win the title? I can’t fix this,” Mourinho replied.
“We can still finish fourth, I think it is not easy, for sure we are going to finish in the top six like all of the other historically top teams, but the best we can get is the fourth position.
“Now we have to look to the fifth position and then probably later the fourth.”
We’re not even halfway through the season and Mourinho has admitted the best his side can hope for is fourth.
That surely isn’t good enough.
Well, club legend Gary Neville believes that Mourinho will be sacked soon.
“Will Mourinho leave? I think it’ll happen,” Neville said on Sky Sports. “My preference would always be to get to the end of the season. But the boardroom is so naive it’s unbelievable.”
Mourinho may still have the backing of many United fans but one of his former players clearly isn’t backing him.
The legendary goalkeeper infamously fell out with Mourinho at Real Madrid and he took to Twitter after Liverpool’s 3-1 victory to fire some shots at his former boss.
Casillas wrote: “According to a Portuguese newspaper, someone said that a player like me (37 years old) is at the end of his career. Completely agree! My question is, for that newspaper: In the case of coaches, when and at what moment do you see that they are no longer there to lead a team or train?”
Of course, that “someone” is quite obviously Mourinho.
And, rather unsurprisingly, Casillas’ tweet went viral straight away. Within an hour, it had racked up more than 8,000 retweets.
Mourinho is in no position to fire back at the Spaniard, either.
