FG, ASUU hold closed-door meeting
The Federal Government on Thursday resumed talks with the leaders of the Academic Staff Union Of Universities over the ongoing strike in public universities which started on November 4 th .The crucial meeting which was being held behind closed – doors had in attendance the National President of the Union , Professor Biodun Ogunyemi who led the Union â s Delegation , reports Channels Television .
The Minister Of Labour and Productivity , Chris Ngige , at the commencement of the meeting , appealed to the union leaders that the meeting was coming a bit late because of negotiations on the new minimum wage .
Others present at the meeting were the Accountant General of the Federation and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education .
The lecturers commenced the strike action on November 4 to protest the non -implementation of agreements over welfare issues .
