Oshiomhole saved Enugu APC from cabal, opportunists – Party chieftain, Val Nnadozie
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Enugu State, Mr. Val Nnadozie has hailed the national chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for imposing the direct primary option on the Enugu chapter of the party.
Nnadozie spoke in reaction to the stand of the Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, who had asked Oshiomhole to be mindful of taking decisions that would hamper President Muhammadu Buhari’s chances.
However, in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday, Nnadozie, a House of Reps hopeful of the party, said the national chairman’s decision had saved the party.
According to him, “The questions begging for answers here is ‘why are some people afraid of direct primaries?’ Direct and indirect primaries which one will serve APC and Mr President better? Which one will involve all Party members. These questions should be answered by Osita Okechukwu. Let us also not overlook the legal implications of indirect primaries.
“Comrade Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole was Osita’s darling when it was indirect primaries (which is against the law) now that it is direct primaries, he is “indirectly” pouring invectives on the Comrade Chairman for doing the right thing.
“Take a look at the names they keep bandying as people who are the pillars of APC, where were these people when APC was struggling for registration? Where were they during the 2015 elections? All of them were the same people that bad mouthed us for backing ‘an Hausa’ party and supporting somebody whose only intention is to islamize Nigeria- another shame.”
He declared that “Comrade Chairman has saved Enugu APC from the hands of opportunists; let he who believes he is popular face the people in a free and fair contest, whoever wins, all of us will support him. Enough of this nonsense.
“I salute genuine APC members for resisting the ‘cabal’ that came to hijack APC Enugu even in the face of police tear gas and all. Somebody said he is in Enugu what our revered Jagaban Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is to the West, what a laugh.”
