Luke Shaw destroys the entire Man United team with the truth after loss v West Ham
Manchester United are really struggling at the moment and this weekend’s loss to West Ham leaves them in 10th place in the Premier League.
Jose Mourinho stripped Paul Pogba of the vice-captaincy, Scott McTominay started at centre-back ahead of Eric Bailly and Alexis Sanchez can’t even get on the bench.
United put in a lacklustre display at the London Stadium but anyone who’s watched them this season will know that one bright point has been the form of Luke Shaw.
From goals and assists going forward to much-improved defending, the Englishman has nailed down a starting XI spot for both club and country with excellent performances.
However, Man Utd as a whole are playing poorly, and after revealing Mourinho’s half-time words, Shaw destroyed the team for their display against the Hammers.
SHAW: WHAT MOURINHO SAID AT HALF-TIME
The left-back explained what under-pressure Mourinho wanted to see from his side at 2-0 down, saying, via Manchester Evening News : “At half-time, there were a few words.
“It was needed. It was ‘wake up’ and words that he (Mourinho) has said before: ‘We need to be moving, we need to concentrate more, we need to want the ball, we need to be playing’.”
“That didn’t happen. It’s a very, very bad day for us,” Shaw added, before letting rip on United’s players in no uncertain terms whatsoever.
SHAW DESTROYS MAN UTD DISPLAY AT WEST HAM
“You want the truth? I honestly think it was horrendous,” the 23-year-old continued. “We didn’t look like a team today that was going to beat West Ham.
“I think individually and as a team we were awful. That’s not good enough. It’s hard to take and we’re sorry to the fans for what they saw.
“It wasn’t good enough from a Man United team with all the talent we have. Games like this we should be dominating, creating chances, showing people why we deserve to play for Man United.
“That didn’t happen today. It was very poor from us. We’re the ones who go on the pitch. The manager isn’t on the pitch is he?
“He’s there to put a team out that he thinks can win the game. You look at our team today and we had a very strong team. No excuses. As players we weren’t good enough.”
From this scathing assessment, it’s clear that Shaw believes Man Utd’s players should be looking at themselves rather than pointing the finger at Mourinho.
The Red Devils desperately need to bounce back this week as they welcome Valencia to Old Trafford in the Champions League and host Newcastle United.
