Arsenal Grab Highly-rated Paraguayan Midfielder Miguel Almiron
Miguel Almiron is expected to join the Red and White Army in North London, next year after securing a pre-contract with Arsenal representatives.
Arsenal will sign Atlanta United star Miguel Almiron in January, according to the club’s president Darren Eales.
The 24-year-old Paraguayan has been earning rave reviews for the MLS side and the attacking midfielder has managed 12 goals and 13 assists in 32 games for Atlanta.
The former Cerro Porteno and Lanus No.10 has apparently got everything in place to finish the MLS season this month and then move to The Emirates in January.
Eales told FOX Deportes USA via 90min: “Almirón’s future is already decided and will go to England in the European winter market.”
Atlanta are already understood to have lined up 25-year-old River Plate N0.10 Gonzalo Martinez to replace Almiron.
The report also claims Arsenal have shown an interest in Almiron before but they have now arranged to pay €13million for him in the next transfer window.
In September 2017 Eales admitted a point in the future could arrive where Atlanta would have to consider selling some of their young stars.
“At the moment we’re pretty excited with the team we’ve got, with the team we’re building,”
said Eales. “I’m sure there’s going to be continued interest for our players because we’ve got some amazing young players, they’re very talented.
“I’m sure at some stage there will be that too-good-to-refuse offer that comes in and that’ll be the right move for everybody — for the club, for the player, for the league. So when that comes, we’ll cross that bridge.”
