Why Chelsea Drew Against West Ham – David Luiz Speaks On Ending Perfect Start
Chelsea failed to maintain their winning streak against West Ham at the weekend because they did not use the ball quickly enough, David Luiz has argued.
While speaking after seeing his team, Chelsea shared points in a 1-1 draw with West Ham on Sunday afternoon, Brazilian defender, David Luiz, said that it was the execution of not beibg up to top standard.
The experienced defender who had came back into the side having remained in England while most of the squad won their Europa league match in Greece midweek, is still confident in what is being implemented by his boss, Maurizio Sarri.
He said: “Of course we are disappointed. We didnât play a fantastic game, we didnât create a lot. It was too slow, moving the ball to create the gaps or our movements without the ball, and that is why we couldnât score.
“I think our plan is fantastic,” he confirmed. “On Sunday we didnât play at our high level so that is why we didnât win.
“We know that many teams now are going to play against us this way, with a low block and trying to play on the counter-attack, so there was not a lot of space but it is up to us to try to find a solution.”
On Saturday, Chelsea will have the opportunity to leapfrog Jurgen Kloppâs side as they meet in the Premier League â an occasion the 31-year-old defender is looking forward to, though only after a midweek dress rehearsal against the Reds in the Carabao Cup.
“The best games are games like that,” reckons our Brazilian back. “We are going to play against a fantastic team so we need to rest and be ready for both games.”
