After victories against Alaves and Real Valladolid to start off their season, Ernersto Valverde’s side welcomed newly promoted SD Huesca to the Camp Nou on Sunday evening.
The underdogs took a surprise lead when Juan Camilo Hernandez netted for the away outfit just three minutes into the game.

But Barcelona quickly began to assert their dominance and restored parity 13 minutes later through Lionel Messi.

Valverde’s side proved irresistible from then on in as they hit the back of the net seven more times over the course of the game to emerge 8-2 victors.

It was Messi who cancelled out Huesca’s opening goal and he did so with a lovely finish.

The Argentine forward picked the ball up just outside the box and completely sold a defender with a swift body feint, before powering the ball into the corner of the net.

It was yet another goal that not only had Barcelona fans raving; but Real Madrid fans were impressed too.

In fact, a Real supporter was so impressed that they took to Reddit to post their awe at how ‘effortless’ Messi’s finish looked.

Reddit user ‘BigMik_PL’ wrote: “What makes me angry is how effortless that looks. It’s literally world’s simplest feint yet the way Messi does it he leaves defenders picking grass out of their shorts.

“By ridiculously stupid FIFA standards Messi has like a 2 star skill rating since he never does any fancy flicks he just body feints you out of your fucking boots.

“Every single touch he takes is the simplest touch at a perfect moment in the ideal direction. It’s unreal.

“You watch him and it makes you feel like this defenders are being silly it’s such a simple “trick” how they get caught on it and then you realise it’s f****** Jerome Boateng doing grass angels on the pitch.

“No matter how World Class of a defender you are Leo Messi is not only going to make you chase shadows but he will also make you look like you randomly stumbled onto the pitch from the crowd and was told to put a jersey on.

“I f****** hate it so much but dammit do I respect it.”

Barcelona fans have picked up on it – and they absolutely loved the rival fans’ praise of Messi.

Another Madridista, Reddit user ‘young_x’, then commented beneath the post: “I’m really going to miss cursing at the screen when this guy retires. He scores goals he has no right to.”

Even Madrid fans, who have every right to resent Messi for his exploits across the years, are coming to admire his brilliance.
