Kemi Adeosun: Reactions trail Minister’s resignation
Some Nigerians have reacted to reports that the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun has resigned.
DAILY POST reports that the Minister resigned from her office on Friday.
Adeosun’s alleged resignation may not be unconnected with the allegation of forgery of National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, certificate.
While some Nigerians have welcomed her resignation, saying she protected her integrity and that of the APC, others believe her decision was a political move by the Buhari led-administration to manage its image ahead of 2019 elections.
Here are some comments gathered from Twitter:
@Beulahgallery, “But she should have an exception letter. Moreover she was good at her job, what’s the point for NYSC to certify that one went to school?”
@MustaphaMainaUm, “Kemi Adeosun’s resignation should have happened long ago.
But credit to Mr President and madam Kemi for eventually doing the needful, unlike a certain Mesujamba who was indicted by his boys in Offa robbery but has refused to step down as Senate President.”
@Shayor19, “Nigerians don frustrate this woman Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun until she finally resigned. I trust Nigerians will still go ahead and say she must be arrested for NYSC forgery. Watch your back, this country no get chill at all.”
@YemieFASH, “Forgery is a criminal offence in Nigeria, the IG of @PoliceNG must immediately arrest and prosecute the former minister of finance, @HMKemiAdeosun for forging NYSC certificate.”
@Unlimited_Lekan, “Kemi Adeosun’s resignation is plot by @MBuhari @APCNigeria to draw Nigerians attention away from the Nepotistic appointment of Yusuf Magaji Bichi as new DSS boss.
@Engr_Sambass, “It’s better late than never, Kemi Adeosun has done that which is right, it’s now over to @officialEFCC or ICPC to swing into investigation and serve the appropriate sanction. It’s time for Buhari to present his own certificate, not 13 SANs.”
@modupeasiki, “Thumbs up Kemi Adeosun, I loved watching you on news with all your phonetics, even if the job was too much for you to handle. Well, every department that cleared her for that position after verifying her certificates initially is also at fault. The dirty party of Nigerian politics”
@fortunekay2014 “First time in history we experienced integrity from such a high profile civil officer. This can only happen in a foreign nation. I’m so flabbergasted that this can happen in Nigeria. Nigerians power suckers would never have bowed out, but desperate to remain in power for a lifetime.”
@ReginaldOhiri, “That was the right thing to do, though it was belated. Now she has to explain to law enforcement how she came about with NYSC forged discharge certificate.”
@IwualaOkechukw2, “APC made her resign just months to election to deceive the pathetic individuals. The damage is there now. Get out at last, Nigeria will win.”
