Jubilation As Notorious Kidnapper Is Captured By Police In Imo State

After many several failed attempts, a notorious kidnapper terrorizing residents of Owerri has been captured.
There was jubilation in Owerri, the Imo State capital on Monday after the operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the state police command arrested the leader of the gang that kidnapped a staff of the National Population Commission, one Engr Amasike Ameleonye in July.

According to Punch, the gang had in July kidnapped Amasike after shooting his police orderly and snatching his AK47 rifle in Okwelle in the Onuimo Local Government Area of the state.

The gang collected N5m as ransom before releasing the victim who is said to be working in the presidency but was in the state to see his relatives.

The state commissioner of police, Dasuki Galadanchi, who briefed journalists at the command’s headquarters said that the arrest of the kidnap kingpin, Chukwuemeka Uzoukwu, was a major breakthrough in crime fighting in the state.

Describing Uzoukwu as the most wanted kidnapper in the state, the CP said that the Tactical Unit of the command was activated to nab the gunman.

Galandamchi said , “He was arrested at Ihiagwa in Owerri West LGA by the Operatives of the SARS led by ASP Banjoko Oluwemimo.

“His name is Chukwuemeka Uzoukwu, 23, aka White. He is from Uhusieke Owerri Nkworji in Imo State. He has been on our wanted list.”
