Woman stabs husband dead for keeping girlfriends

A woman has been arrested and detained at the Ughelli Police Area Command for allegedly stabbing her husband to death during a domestic fight after she accused him of engaging in extra-marital affairs.

The suspect, Ese Eregarhe, 32, purportedly used a kitchen knife to stab her husband, who is in his late 30s at their Agbarha-Otor residence in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Confirming the incident to Vanguard , a senior officer at the Ughelli Police Area Command hinted that the suspect had accused the victim of having a string of girlfriends who keep him from coming home early.

Giving details of the incident, the source said: “When he got home on that fateful day, his wife had an argument with him over his purported infidelity and a fight ensued, during which, according to the wife, she stabbed him on the throat with a kitchen knife while trying to defend herself.

“He was rushed to Ughelli Central Hospital, but unfortunately he had lost a lot of blood before he could get the needed treatment and gave up the ghost with his remains deposited at the hospital’s mortuary.”

The source, while confirming the arrest of the suspect, hinted that she would be charged to court upon completion of investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, a woman has been confirmed dead in an an accident along Oteri/Owho Road in Ughelli, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, involving operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, who were chasing a car conveying products suspected to be illegally refined diesel.

Confirming the incident to Vanguard weekend, an operative of the squad, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the victim, Evelyn Obiomo, was in a lady’s motorcycle with her husband when the SARS Hilux vehicle rammed into them after the car lost control during the pursuit.

The source said: “The SARS operatives were chasing a suspected oil bunkerer from the Oteri axis, when they lost control and collided with a lady’s motorcycle conveying a couple.

“The operatives rushed the victims to Ughelli Central Hospital, where one of them even donated blood for the female passenger, who had bled profusely as a result of the accident and was in dire need of blood.

“Unfortunately, the female passenger could not make it. The motorcycle rider, who was later identified as her husband, survived with injuries.
