Sergio Ramos slams Cristiano Ronaldo’s comments on ‘family’
Real Madrid captain, Sergio Ramos has responded to comments by Juventus forward, Cristiano Ronaldo seemingly suggesting that the Los Blancos is not a ‘family’.
Ronaldo, last week spoke to Juventus’s official website about his time at the Turin club so far, stating that, “it’s different here, it’s like a family”.
The Portuguese captain, who left the reigning Champions League holders as their all-time highest goal scorer, won 15 titles in nine years at the Santiago Bernabeu including 4 Champions League trophies.
Ramos, however, has replied his former teammate’s comments.
“Here we have always felt like a family, so I don’t know what he was talking about,” Ramos was quoted by Sportmole as saying at a pre-UEFA Super Cup press conference in Tallinn.
“We have had lots of success, which is because we are a family and he was part of that family, which we have continued to have.
“It’s obviously a negative when you lose a player like Cristiano Ronaldo, but we can continue to win and in Real Madrid’s history, many have come and gone, but Real continue to win. No one is above Real, whatever happens, Real will continue to live on and it was his choice to leave.
“Losing Ronaldo was hard, but no player is above Real Madrid and we still have the hunger to improve and win more titles. The mindset we have is more important than any individuals in the team.”
Real Madrid will kick off their 2018-19 campaign tonight against rival, Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup.
