Postpone your presidential ambition to 2023 because of Buhari – Gov. Akeredolu urges Nigerian youth
Nigerian youths aspiring to contest the 2019 presidential election with President Muhammadu Buhari have been advised to shelve their ambition.
The Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu gave the advice at the 2018 Youths’ Day celebration held at the Adegbemile Cultural Centre in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
He stressed that for the youth to ensure that they grab the presidential seat, their energy must be channel towards constructive analysis instead of frivolities.
“Let me state it that the youths will have to wait till 2023 before running for the presidential seat.
“Because this is when Buhari would have completed his second term in the office by God’s grace.
“The older generation may not want to allow you (youth) because they will continue to dream dreams.
“But you can beat them to it if only you can see visions with your vision and your intellectual capacity.”
The Governor however assured the youths of his support whenever the need arises, and urged them to take up leadership positions in the society.
According to him, there is the need for the Nigerian youths to come up with sound innovations that would further propel the developmental drive in the country, adding that he has never been shy to ask his sons who are technologically savvy for directions.
The Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in Ondo state, Esther Owoeye said that only visionary leaders would continue to receive the support of youths.
She maintained that the youths would continue to agitate more for their right and privileges in the society.
“Safe Space For Youth” was the theme of the event, which was organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sport Development.
