JUST IN: National Assembly cancels presiding officers’ meeting
The meeting of the leadership of the National Assembly scheduled for Tuesday afternoon has been put off.
This was disclosed by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives,Yusuf Lasun, while briefing newsmen at the entrance of the National Assembly complex in Abuja.
According to him, the meeting was called off following the blockade mounted at the entrance of the complex by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).
“A meeting cannot be held under this kind of atmosphere.
“It is unfortunate that this is happening; because when the parliament is under siege, democracy is under siege,” Lasun stated.
Recall that Edujandon.com had reported that DSS operatives on Tuesday morning blocked the entrance to the National Assembly.
