An unusual police presence has been spotted at the National Assembly causing quite a stir at the complex.
There is currently an unusual police presence at the National Assembly, Vanguard reports.

Similarly, a crowd of youths is gathering at the main gate of the Assembly. Security operatives involving the police and National Assembly security personnel are at alert inside the building, mounting guards at the doors of the chambers of both the Senate and the House of Representatives in the White House

Our correspondent reports that the development was quite unusual given the fact that both chambers begin plenary by 11 am.

But why there are signals that policemen have besieged the House senate president, Dr. Bukola Saraki in Abuja for reasons yet to be ascertained, sources said the senate president is already within the precinct of the National Parliament waiting for plenary session.

Recall that an air of mass defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP is blowing around the Assembly.

Recall also that Saraki had a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Villa last week on issues mostly not unconnected with the defection move.

One of the officers approached to by our correspondent simply said they were getting ready for the plenary session even though it wasn’t time yet.

Details later…
