#WorldCup 2018: Russia nearly through after storming past Egypt
Russia’s spot in the knockout stages can be secured tomorrow if Uruguay avoid defeat against Saudi Arabia, a result that would also seal a premature exit for Egypt. Hector Cuper’s side will have a final chance to end a long wait for a World Cup victory next Monday against Saudi, while Russia will tackle Uruguay in what is likely to be a head-to-head tussle for top spot in Group A.
Another fantastic victory for Russia who, with six points and eight goals, will surely be amongst the final 16 teams in the next round. Ahmed Fathy’s unfortunate own goal put the hosts on their way, with Denis Cheryshev and Artem Dzyuba capping the win off before Mohamed Salah netted a consolation for Egypt from the penalty spot.
