Nigeria vs Iceland: Referee for Super Eagles crucial Group D clash revealed
Referee Matthew Conger from New Zealand, will be the man in the middle, when Nigeria take on Iceland in a crucial Group D fixture at the 2018 World Cup on Friday.
Conger will be supported by his compatriot, Simon Lount as his first Assistant Referee (AR1) and Tevita Makasini from Tonga as his second assistant referee (AR2).
Ricardo Montero from Costa Rica will be the fourth official, while Hiroshi Yamauchi will be the reserve referee, according to FIFA’s media channel.
Conger was in charge of Nigeria’s game against Sweden at the Rio 2016 Olympics in Brazil, which the Dream Team won 1-0 courtesy of a goal from Sadiq Umar.
He has also officiated at two under-20 FIFA World Cups, in New Zealand in 2015 and in South Korea in 2017.
