The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has condemned the robbery attack on the corps members serving in the riverine Tamigbe community of Burutu Local Government Area of Delta.
NYSC Coordinator in Delta, Mr Benjamin Omotade, gave the condemnation in a statement in Asaba on Wednesday.

Omotade, who visited the corps members’ lodge in the community to assess the extent of the damage from the attack, said that the members lost their personal effects during the incident.

He urged the community leaders to “rally round and fish out the perpetrators behind the robbery incident and secure the corps members”.

The coordinator urged the people to show kindness to the corps members, who according to him, should be regarded as indigenes, by virtue of their service in the riverine community.

Omotade further demanded that the community leaders addressed the water problem faced by the corps members posted to them.

Responding on behalf of the community, Mr Pelle Zentus, Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties, an indigene, pledged the people’s readiness to address the challenges.

Zentus also condemned the attack, describing the perpetrators as miscreants, and promised to make more efforts to ensure security and welfare of the corps members in the community.
