Biafra’s sit-at-home witnesses partial compliance in South-east
The sit-at-home order given by the pro-Biafrian groups witnessed partial compliance in some states in South Eastern Nigeria.
In Enugu, it was observed that many locations within the metropolis were deserted.
Ogui, Ekulu, Uwani, Presidential roads and Independence Layout are some of the places deserted as many shops were closed and passengers were seen stranded.
DAILY POST also observed that the ever busy Okigwe axis of Imo state is also deserted with many shops closed as security operatives were seen conducting thorough checks on passing vehicles.
In Umuahia, the Abia state capital, normal activities went on while Osisioma, the buzzing Ariaria market and Aba towns were all deserted.
School, shops, and some commercial banks did not also open for business.
A trader in Obehie, Nneka who managed to open her shop for sales said, “I didn’t know that they will take this thing serious like this. I have opened my shop since morning and there has been no sales. Nobody wants to come out to do anything.”
In Rivers State, the sit-at-home order by pro-Biafra groups witnessed partial compliance in Oyigbo, Obio-Akpor and Port Harcourt city local government areas of the state.
While in places like Lagos and Abuja the Igbos in these states went about their usual daily activities. Shops in Alaba, Trade Fair Balogun were open.
Recall that the pro Biafra groups declared today, May 30th sit-a- home day for all its members to mark what they termed “Hero’s Day”.
