Female Cashier, Felicia, Goes To Prison For Stealing Employer’s N8m
A female cashier simply identified as Felicia Dalley, has been sent to Kirikiri Prison, Apapa, Lagos till she meets up with the bail conditions granted her by an Igbosere Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing the sum of N869,770 which belongs to her employer.
It is very appalling the things people readily engage in these days for money. The suspect, 30 year old Felicia Dalley, until her imprisonment, worked with 12 Basket Foods Ltd, Sura Plaza, Lagos Island, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.
The accused was arrested by the men of the police force at Lion Building Division, Lagos Island and arraigned before the court on a one count charge of felony to wit, stealing.
The Police Counsel, Oladejo Balogun informed the court in charge No I/22/2018 that the accused committed the offence on 7 February, 2017 and 12 February, 2018 at 12 Baskek Foods Ltd, Sura Plaza.
Balogun told the court that the accused used her position as a cashier with her employer and gave out her GTB bank account number to the customers of her employer to pay the sum of N869,770 into it. Thereafter, she was alleged to have converted the money to her personal use.
The Police Counsel revealed to the court that the management of 12 Basket Foods Ltd reportedly dug up the fraud when it audited its account books, which lead to the accused’s arrest.
According to him, the offence committed by the accused was contrary to section 280 (1)(b), and punishable under section 287(7) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused, Felicia, however pleaded not guilty to the alleged crime and Magistrate K.O Ogundare granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Ogundare adjourned the case till 15 May, 2018 for mention and ordered that the defendant be kept at the Kirikiri Prison till she met up with the bail conditions.
