2Baba urges NCC to intervene in COSON’s crisis
Music megastar, Innocent Idibia, aka, 2Baba, has waded into the lingering crisis in Copyright Society of Nigeria by writing a petition to the Nigeria Copyright Commission, calling for intervention.
In the petition dated 12th April, 2018, the singer sought the assistance of the Inspector General of Police to stop the alleged harassment of Mr. Efe Omoregbe, who is chairman of COSON board; and Mr. Joel Ajayi, who is a member of the board by Police as they carry out COSON’s legitimate business.
Omorogbe, 47, is well known in the music industry for being 2Baba’s manager for more than a decade.
2Baba condemned the crisis rocking the association, referring to it as “disheartening.”
According to him, “It is quite unfortunate and disheartening that a simple call for accountability and transparency has degenerated into relentless media attack, harassment and intimidation of the group of people who made the call.”
“The personal interest of a few should not supersede the collective interest of generality of members and overall well-being of the society,” he added.
President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Bukola Saraki and the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, were also copied in the letter, which was addressed to Director General of the Nigeria Copyright Commission, Afam Ezekunde, on Monday.
Tony Okoroji and Efe Omoregbe have been involved in a long-running feud over the chairmanship of COSON.
