The photo of the 23 students of Command Junior Secondary School Misau,

Bauchi State that lost their lives in a ghastly auto crash along Bauchi-Kano road taken during there excursion yesterday was released today.

The young students were pictured with there teachers.

The spokesman of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Kano State Command, who confirmed the incident said it occurred around 11 am near Tsaida village in Gaya Local Government Area of Kano state.

The students were returning from an excursion journey from Kano state when the bus conveying them had a head-on collision with a DAF truck.

Three others sustained serious injuries.Two of the injured were taken to Gaya General Hospital while one was referred to a specialist hospital in Kano.

13 of the dead victims are males, while the remaining 10 are females. All the corpses had been deposited at the General Hospital.

The bodies of the 22 students and their teacher who died in an accident, on their way to Kano for excursion have been buried, according to Islamic rights. The funeral prayers took place yesterday at emir’s palace, Misau Emirate Council.


According to a witness at the scene of the accident, the bus collided with the truck as both were trying to avoid a pothole at Samia Uku village. He said both vehicles were on top speed, adding

“we counted 23 dead bodies and several others that escaped with injury were taken to Gaya Hospital.”
The witness, Maiunguwa said the accident occurred close to Maitama Sule College by Dudduru.

The Bauchi State Governor , Governor Mohammed A. Abubakar released a statement on the accident in which he commiserated with the families of the victims and prayed to God to grant them Jannatul Firdaus.

Today is a tragic one as we lost about 23 of our best young minds, students and teachers of Command Junior Secondary school, Misau who were returning from an excursion journey from Kano state.

May Allah Almighty grant them Jannatul Firdaus and comfort their families. It is not good for a society to bury its young, worse still, when they go in search of knowledge. I offer my condolences to all affected and the people of Bauchi State.
