The Argentine forward is set to welcome the arrival of another sibling for Mateo and Thiago, with wife Antonella Roccuzzo closing in on her due date

Lionel Messi has confirmed that his third son with wife Antonella Roccuzzo will be named Ciro.

The Barcelona superstar revealed in October 2017 that his family was set to welcome a new arrival .

With the due date closing in fast, the Messis have settled on a name for the latest addition to their growing brood.

Ciro is expected to be born at the end of February or in early March.

He will be welcomed into the world by his adoring parents and older brothers Thiago and Mateo.

Messi announced the news on his Instagram account, having kept his loyal following of fans waiting since the announcement that his wife was expecting.

Neither the gender nor the name of the baby was known at that point, although a social media post from Antonella in November revealed that another boy was on the way.

Messi is a private figure despite operating under the brightest of spotlights in his professional life.

He has, however, discussed his family at times, with the Argentine revealing in December 2017 that Mateo and Thiago boast markedly different personalities .

“They are very different,” he told TyC Sports .

“Thiago is a phenomenon, he’s a good little boy the other is just the opposite, a son of a bitch.

“Thiago likes cars and motorcycles more. He likes football, but even there he plays for a little bit and gets tired.

“Mateo is a terror, a character. It’s nice to see how different they are from each other.”

A third son should help to keep Messi on his toes, with 2018 shaping up to be a memorable year for a man who is also chasing down collective honours with Barca, individual prizes such as the Ballon d’Or and World Cup glory with Argentina.
