OHANAEZE Youth Council, OYC, has called on the Federal Government to urgently rebuild the Palace of Eze Israel Kanu of Afara Ukwu, father of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, leader, Nnamdi Kanu, destroyed last September when soldiers raided it in search of the IPOB leader.

According to Ohanaeze Youths Council, rebuilding the palace could go a long way in assuaging the anger of the community on the illegal invasion of the community by soldiers and the attendant trauma they went through.

Meantime, OYC, has assured members of IPOB, that there is no plan by the military authority to establish a mini military barracks in Afara, saying that its leadership has investigated the allegation and found the rumour not to be true. They assured that nobody should be worried over it.

OYC in statement signed by its Natational Vice President, Comrade Obinna Achionye stated: “After our investigation, we assure IPOB that there is no iota of truth on the planned establishment of a mini military barracks in Afara.”

“Though we are not holding forth for Federal Government or Abia state Government on the issue, but it is high time we reconcile with all agitators and heal the wounds of Python Dance which left many Igbo youths dead, many Igbo youths are still in the morgue and we are worried of how they will be buried.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council worldwide will always defend the interest of Ndigbo, especially from any external aggression and our collective enemies.

“We still call on all Biafra agitators to focus on the 2018 Biafra restoration through the universally accepted peaceful referendum, and never be distracted by rumours peddlers. Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youths Council Worldwide will do anything peaceful to ensure that our youths are not victims of military brutality.

“We call on the Federal Government to rebuild the Palace of HRM Eze Israel Kanu, whose traditional palace was wrongfully destroyed during the operation Python Dance, and urged Abia state Government never to be distracted in their efforts to rebuild Abia and call on Governor Ikpeazu to be the father of all in Abia”.

In another development, the World igbo Youth Council, WIC, has commended APC chieftains, Chief Oyegun, Governor Okorocha, Chief Orji Kalu and Uche Ogar for their and efforts and steadfastness towards ensuring that President Muhammadu Buhari wins in the South East in 2019 general elections.

A statement by Dr. Francis Ugwu, the group’s Deputy President General, said that the group has started internal mobilization for APC to win in the governorship elections in Abia, Ebonyi and Enugu and Imo states.

“Ndigbo have never been in the opposition party since the time of our late leaders Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe, Michael Okpara and Akanu ibiam.

We will never allow Ohanaeze Ndigbo to repeat the same mistake of not supporting President Buhari.

“World igbo Youth Council has taken it as a responsibility to rescue Ndigbo from making another costly mistake in 2019 by supporting people who will use restructuring to deceive Ndigbo”-
