Body of a missing South African girl has been found in a field badly burnt . Police release identity of suspect
The badly burnt body of 20-year-old woman was found by a farmer in a secluded cane field last Saturday, in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa. The lady identified as Siam Lee had gone missing since last Thursday, January 4th, from her place of work on Margaret Maytom Drive in Durban North.
Her disappearance initiated a massive search involving the Police, private investigators and security companies. Yesterday, Lee was positively identified by a relative, a source close to the investigation revealed.
Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane said police had launched an inquest into the grisly discovery.
Zwane appealed to the general public to come forward with information on the suspect. He claims the act is getting more popular among South Africans, especially men that feel they have been ‘cheated for love’ when their women move on with their lives .
In the seven days since her disappearance‚ social media has been awash with appeals for her safe return. It is understood that DNA testing will prove with certainty that the body is that of Lee .
The identity of a man suspected to the perpetrator of the crime, has been released by Investigators and they believed he could assist them in their inquiry into her vanishing.
“The body was found by a farmer who was driving past. That is when he noticed the body‚” he said .
He further stated that “This act should be condemned and people should learn on how to move on with their lives instead of resorting to burning their estranged girlfriends”
“The man in the attached identikit allegedly left with Siam in a black Mercedes Benz Vito/ V-class with unknown GP registration numbers . Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact me on 083 632 2849 or 031 560 8004. Our Crime Stop number can also be contacted on 08600 10 111,” said Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS.
