2019: All APC Governors Have Endorsed Buhari – Okorocha
Imo State Governor, Rocha Okorocha, said the decision to endorse Buhari for second term was made during a three-day meeting that party leaders had with the president in Abuja
This could pass as the worst kept secret.
The endorsement of President Muhammadu Buhari by governors under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as revealed by Imo State Governor, Rocha Okorocha should not come as a surprise.
The handwriting was boldly written on the wall as soon as he came back from his medical trip in London.
Okorocha said the decision to endorse Buhari for a second term was made during a three-day meeting party leaders had with the president in Abuja.
The governor added that the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, was also unanimously picked as the presidential campaign chairman due to his track record during the 2015 election.
Okorocha, in a statement through his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, said, “We have been in Abuja for three days holding meetings of the Progressive Governors with the APC leadership. We deliberated on so many issues.
“First among the very important issues that we discussed, was the issue of Mr President’s second term bid and it has the endorsement of all the governors of APC.
“There is need for him to complete his second term as president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and he should go ahead to declare.
“We also deliberated and a unanimous decision was reached that we liaise with the campaign team to be headed by the Minister of Transport, Chief Amaechi as the director-general.”
The statement is coming barely a month after Communication Minister, Adebayo Shittu said party loyalists would convince the president to run for second term, saying a campaign office was underway in the South West.
