Imo State Has A Special Place In My Government – Buhari
President Mohammadu Buhari,Friday assured Imo people that in terms of governance under his leadership that he has a special place in his heart for the citizens of the state.
Buhari represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Mr Boss Gida Mustapha, delivered this message, at the 50th birthday celebration of the wife of the Imo state governor, Nkechi Rochas Okorocha, inside the government House, Owerri.
While eulogizing Okorocha’s wife, on her achievements in philantropism, said he ascended to the position of SGF by God’s grace.
He briefly said: “While I was coming to Imo state, President Buhari specifically directed to tell Imo people that they have a special place in his heart. We have come to celebrate with you as well as share in the joy. So, we should see what is happening as God’s grace in our lives.”
According to the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osibanjo, “I am always fascinated with the quality of philanthropy of Mrs Nkechi Okorocha, we remember She needs a Roof Project, initiated by Okorocha’s wife, and I want to tell you that this is the kind of philanthropy we describe as development philanthropy that gives hope to our people.”
In his remark, the Bayalsa state Governor Seriakin Dickson, and Chairman of the occasion, said: ” With the wonderful job she is doing in this state as well as coordinating the wifes’ of Southern governors has done a lot. We are gathered here because of the great things you are doing. My wife told me to represent her, that Okorocha’s wife is her boss. So, I want to say this, if you want to live long don’t oppose instructions from your wife.”
Speaking also, Governor Rochas Okorocha, of Imo state, was of the opinion that time has come to hand over power to women.
Okorocha said: “My marriage is both spiritual and natural. I make bold to say that I have one of the best families in the whole world. She has changed the stories of women.
“As I was in the vehicle with the Vice President, he said to me that if my stands for an election with me that she will win. And I want to say this if comes out she will win.
“Our wives have come together irrespective of the political parties and while we are fighting they are busy doing things together. I want to say this, this time around we should give power to women.”
Other dignitaries that graced the Okorocha’s birthday celebration, included the representative of the Wife of the President, Mrs. Gimbiya Dogara, Governor of Abia state, Okezie Ikpeazu, Minister of Labour and Productivity, Mr. Chris Ngige, Minister of Communication, Barr. Adebayo Shittu, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyawu, as well as wives of governors.
