Onazi and Simon Dropped from Super Eagles Squad, Replacements Named
Onazi and Simon will be unavailable for the Super Eagles against Algeria and Argentina, and coach Gernot Rohr has called up two replacement players.
Trabzonspor’s Ogenyi Onazi and KAA Gent’s Moses Simon will play no part when Nigeria face Algeria in Friday’s World Cup qualifier, and Kayode Olanrenwaju and Kenneth Omeruo have been called to replace them.
Although the Super Eagles have qualified for the 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia, they must honour the dead-rubber encounter billed for Stade Mohamed-Hamlaoui, Constantine.
According to a press release sent by the Nigeria Football Federation, all the technical crew and backroom staff arrived in Rabat on Sunday with Ahmed Musa, Wilfred Ndidi, Mikel Agu and Ikechukwu Ezenwa.
They were joined on Monday by Oghenekaro Etebo, Alex Iwobi, Olanrewaju Kayode, Henry Onyekuru, Chidiebere Nwakali, Kelechi Iheanacho, Uche Agbo, Chidozie Awaziem, John Ogu and Anthony Nwakaeme.
Captain John Obi Mikel, Francis Uzoho and Daniel Akpeyi are expected at the Golden Tulip Farah.
On Saturday, the team will fly aboard a chartered flight to Krasnodar, where they will face Argentina in Tuesday’s international friendly.
