WWE superstar Shane McMahon rushed to hospital with broken ribs, dislocated shoulder and horror injuries after 40ft Hell in a Cell fall

McMahon was fighting Kevin Owens in the main event and attempted to dive off the roof of the hellacious steel cell onto his prone opponent who was laid out on the announce table.

But Sami Zayn pulled Owens out of the way, meaning the SmackDown chief went crashing through the table and to leave him almost broken.

WWE confirmed in a statement: “SmackDown LIVE Commissioner Shane McMahon has been taken to a local medical facility after leaping from the top of Hell in a Cell and crashing through an announce table during his brutal Falls Count Anywhere Hell in a Cell Match against Kevin Owens.

“A preliminary report has determined that Shane may be dealing with multiple injuries, including neck trauma, fractured ribs and a dislocated shoulder.

At last year’s WrestleMania he attempted a similar leap of faith, which ended in the same circumstances, during a Hell in a Cell loss to The Undertaker.

Although he is not an active wrestler, he has competed in a number of classic matches over the years.
