Will North Korea test another H-bomb TODAY? Experts fear Kim Jong-un’s ‘city-busting’ nuclear weapon could be detonated within hours
October 10, which begins at 4:30pm UK time today, marks the anniversary of the founding of the ruling Worker’s Party of Korea.
And trigger-happy Kim will want to test his apocalyptic weapon like “fireworks on holidays”, an analyst has told the Daily Star Online.
Security expert Robert A. Manning, from think tank the Atlantic Council, told the website that there is a 50/50 chance of another test being carried out today.
“The war of words with Trump has ratcheted up tensions to dangerous levels”, he said.
“They like fireworks on holidays, and he is in a mad rush to acquire a reliable ICBM [ballistic missile] and a city-busting H-bomb.”
The dire warning comes after a top Russian politician predicted Pyongyang was on the verge of testing a missile capable of reaching the United States mainland.
After visiting the deprived North Korean capital, Anton Morozov said the regime “intend to launch one more long-range missile in the near future.”
He added that “their mood is rather belligerent”, in comments made to RIA news agency.
“They are preparing for new tests of a long-range missile”, Mr Morozov said.
“They even gave us mathematical calculations that they believe prove that their missile can hit the west coast of the United States.”
North Korea’s most recent nuclear detonation last month triggered an artificial earthquake six times larger than in any previous test.
Leading the international condemnation, US Defence Secretary Jim Mattis vowed to meet any threat to America with “a massive military response”.
